Aurecon

Aurecon's innovative new Auckland workplace stands as a powerful testament to cultural storytelling, sustainability, and expert craftsmanship. Developed in collaboration with Warren and Mahoney, the project embodies Aurecon's commitment to "believing it, saying it, and doing it," seamlessly integrating strong New Zealand cultural elements throughout the space.

A primary design focus was the extensive use of natural timbers, including Pine and Macrocarpa, honouring the local environment and the narrative of the Curious Adventurer. These rich, warm materials are thoughtfully woven throughout the fitout, creating an organic connection with the surrounding landscape.

Surface delivered the full decorating package for this project, encompassing specialised timber treatments that enhanced the natural grain and durability, concrete coatings that balance industrial strength with refined aesthetics, and the application of one of the first large-scale, in-situ artisan corrugated plaster finishes across an expansive curved wall - introducing a distinctive textural and artistic dimension to the space.

This collaboration has produced a visually striking and culturally rich environment where New Zealand's heritage is interlaced into the very fabric of the workplace - creating a space that is both highly functional and deeply resonant with identity and purpose.
